I have a site with a number of pages that can only be accessed by Registered Users. I have set up the pages so that they are only visible to users in that role. However, I want the pages to be listed in the menu, even when the user is not logged on, so that when they click the menu option for the page, they are directed to the login page, and then, after login, to the page they requested. Unfortunately, with the the page configuration they way it needs to be, the page is not shown in the menu unless a registered user is logged on.

Is it possible to configure site navigation and / or the NAV skin object so that restricted pages are shown in the menu even when no user is logged in? If not, are there other menu systems or navigation providers that allow this?

Help appreciated.

AFAIK the only way is showing the pages (but not the modules on it) to all users, and placing a login mole onto it, visible to unauthenticated users only.

Thanks for the feedback, Sebastian. I can see that that would work as a workaround, but it doesn't take advantage of DNN's natural security redirection facilities, and I think it would be a fairly uncomfortable solution in the site in question. I think I'm going to try to do something with the links module to implement a separate menu of secured pages.

I suspect it would be a fairly straightfoward enhancement to make this behaviour available and configurable for the NAV skin object. Do you know if it has ever been raised in Gemini?

AFAIK there are some menu components with options to show hidden pages, but I don't know whether NAV does support it. Please be aware, that DNN 6 will use DNN garden as default menu component instead of Nav.
