Hi,

I really need a bit of advise here please...

I have added various fields and dropdown lists in EditEvents.ascx so that we can get exactly what we want out of this module, however, when I do a test submission, I get an error saying Events is unavailable.

What am I missing? Do I need to link it to the SQL DB or is there something else I should be aware of?

The 2 custom fields just doesn't meet our requirements, so any advise on how I can get this to work is hugely appreciated!!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Sorry, been away over the week-end. It may be worth studying some of Michael Washington's tutorials on module development - http://adefwebserver.com/dotnetnukehelp/.

In essence whilst you have created fields on a form, (which is just a display/data entry mechanism), you need to also add all the code to store that data into the database. The Getting Started is also another valuable resource for module development.

Cheers
Roger

Thanks, Roger.

*EDIT* - Do I need to download and reinstall using the source code, or can I use the Install package/

You can install either the source or install package. Both should leave a working module, but the source version should also leave you in a position to develope.

Since you have made some edits to a .ascx file, you should just be able to reinstall the install package and it should then work.

Cheers
Roger
