For any installed module (i.e. not those currently packaged with DNN) I am unable to add content via a rich text editor.

I can add content via the basic text editor but when I change the view to the rich text editor the main window in which I would normally enter text doesn't respond to inputs.  I can click on buttons within the editor (such as Bold/Left align etc) but nothing can actually be added.

Using the RTE on standard HTML module that comes with DNN works fine, one example of an installed module that doesn't is: DNNArticle 9.2.

I have tried :
 CKHTMLEditorProvider
 TelerikEditorProvider
 DotNetNuke.RadEditorProvider

Currently using:
 Dnn - 06.01.01 (12)
 OS - win server 2008 sp2
 IIS - 7
 .Net - 3.5

Any ideas? Thanks.

Ryan.

Well this issue has now been resolved and I thought I would post on this thread incase anyone else was having issues with the rich text editor.

Turns out the rich text editor by default renders the content edit area within an iFrame.  The iFrame had a z-index putting it effectively under the containing page thus making it unusable.  The controls were not in the iFrame and so were still clickable.

Strange how the iFrame's CSS was working fine with the HTML/TEXT module but not installed modules though.

How did you resolve this?

I edited the iFrame's z-index in the skin.css file.

wwwroot / WEBSITENAME / Portals / _default / Skins / YOURSKINFOLDER / skin.css

I edited the property to something like > iFrame{z-index:100;}

This made sure the iFrames are rendered on top of other page elements, as for some reason my iFrames were being rendered below them.  So you could see them but not interact with them.
