When using this function in Settings>Advanced Settings Display Module on all Pages checkbox, I get inconsistent results.

For instance if the module to be displayed throughout the site is located in the Left1 position  --it will NOT maintain that position throughout the site.  It will often get bumped to #2 or 3 position.  I suspect that perhaps this was due to a module that was CREATED/ADDED using the  "Pane" field and selecting the Left1 position OR a module was MOVED using the Move to> Left1 position.  Although I am not certain.

My question is can anything be done using the DNN interface to ENSURE that if a module is copied from a given position that it will retain that position consistently throughout the site?

If not

Can anything be done programatically to ensure a module copied throughout the site using the "Display module on..." function will retain it's position?

Thank you, mvr

Try adding a new pane to the skin file that is used that you only use for this "global" module. You'll have to edit your actual skin's ascx file. Of course, if someone with page edit permissions adds a module to the new pane (or moves things around), the position of that content will still be inconsistent.
