Folks,

I moved a DNN site to my local machine. Backed up the database and restored to the local sql server. I can open it from Management Studio so I know my login and password are OK. I copied all the files into a directory and set up as Virtual Directory on IIS 7 as in the video from DotNetNuke Creative. Changed the portal alias in the database to localhost/AUGSD the name of the local site. Modified the connection strings in the web.config file to match the format of those I use in other projects that I test on this machine. As I said I can log into the database from Management Studio. When I try and run the site on local host I get the DNN Installation Wizard page. I am really puzzled. What else can I check.

This seems to be a common problem, but after checking the usual culprits it still won't come up. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have seen that in many posts on this subject and have looked at my connection strings and can't find any problems. Finally just to make sure there wasn't some punctuation or spelling error that I wasn't seeing I created a small web project, and copied the connection section of my DNN site into the new web config file. I was able to connect to the DNN site database with my test project and get a count of records in the User table so I don't think it is a database connection issue. 

I am working on my local machine now and as far as I can tell have everything set up the same with this site as I have with several other DNN sites I have on this system. Any suggestions of where to look next?
