DNN version: 06.01.01

Hi, I installed the spanish language pack (es-ES) and made it my site default. The system default is English US. I allowed Content Localization from the Host Settings page and enabled Localized Content from the Admin->Languages page.

As host, I made the content translation in the pages and modules (titles, page name, html, etc..) and updated the page settings by marking them as translated. Also I created my own resource files (.ascx.es-ES.resx) for my custom modules in the corresponding App_LocalResources folder inside the modules.

Then I published the translated pages from the Admin->Languages page. The login page is working fine, if I select the US flag all the content (title, page name, breadcrumb, html, etc..) is in english and if I switch to the ES flag all the content gets translated to spanish.

If i login with the host account everything is fine (under View Mode Only), I can switch to english or spanish with no problem. The problem occurs once I login with an account that is not the host account. All the content appears in english even when I switch to the ES flag.

Please Help!

In View Mode as Host or Admin I can switch the language with no problem, but in Edit Mode the language switching is not working. I think if I can solve this problem in the Edit Mode, all the users would be able to switch the language.

I made the following tests and found some interesting results, Look:

1. Created a User Account without the Administrators role.
2. Logged In with the created account. Language switching is not working.
3. Logged In with the Admin account and assigned the Administrators role to the created account.
4. Logged In with the created account. Language switching is working in View Mode but not in Edit Mode. Before Login Out made sure the Mode was in View Mode.

5. Logged in with the Admin account and removed the Administrators role from the created account.

6. Logged In with the created account and the Language Switching is working!!
7. Logged In with the Admin account and assigned again the Administrators role to the created account.

8. Logged In with the created account. Before Login Out made sure the Mode was in Edit Mode.
9. Logged in with the Admin account and removed the Administrators role from the created account.

10.Logged In with the created account and the Language Switching is NOT Working!!

In Conclussion:
- The default mode of a non-admin user is not allowing me to get working the language switch.
- As Host or Admin I am able to get the language switch working in View Mode but not in Edit Mode.
- As a non-admin user im able to get the language switch working only if it had the Administrators Role once, and was logged out in the View Mode.

Manuel, this behaviour is by design. Please consider the situation of an English admin, who get the task of updating his site in English, Arab and Chinese, who doesn't speak Arab or Chinese himself. Whenever he gets translated texts back from the translation office, he has to paste it into the proper fields and update the record - which is difficult, if you can't read the buttons and can't even sure about their position due to RTL languages being used.
Said so, you may download free Advanced Control Panel from www.oliverhine.com, which provides a language switcher for UI language as well.

OK, I understand about the Control Panel, but also my custom modules are not being translated properly. I have the proper resource files in the proper folders. It shouldnt face that problem.

Advanced Control Panel is the tool to switch UI language for page and module editors, not the target of translation.
