I have a DNN 3.0 site.  Yeah, I know already. 8-(

I have a problem where the EventLog table is getting really large.  It looks like a bug to me.  The stored proc to delete old rows, PurgeEventLog, makes a comparison on the LogTypeKey columns from the EventLog and EventLogConfig tables:

DELETE
 FROM dbo.EventLog
 FROM dbo.EventLogConfig elc
 WHERE
     (
     SELECT COUNT(*)
     FROM dbo.EventLog el
     WHERE el.LogConfigID = elc.ID
     and dbo.EventLog.LogTypeKey = el.LogTypeKey              <------------------Problem
     and el.LogCreateDate >= dbo.EventLog.LogCreateDate
     ) > elc.KeepMostRecent
 AND elc.KeepMostRecent<>-1

First, the KeepMostRecent column value for config ID 7 (in EventLogConfig) was initially set to -1 which prevents those records from getting deleted.  Not suire why that would be the default value.  That would just allow the table to grow forever.  But, even if I change the KeepMostRecent value, the LogTypeKey values in the event log records are not the same on every row with the same LogConfigID resulting in many records whose LogConfigID is 7 not getting deleted.

What am I missing?

there are known issues in DNN 3/4, because access to Eventlog table is not optimized. Either review (and clear) eventlog manually in short intervals, or setup a cleanup Scheduler job running frequently, taking care to keep the number of entries small.
