I always look forward to the next version of DNN to come along, and this version was no exception. The core enhancements (in particular security) and the fixes to missing storeprocedures etc was certainly welcomed, however as I tested upgrades and new installed and navigated around the various modules I was soon getting frustrated with this release. Certain modules like announcements appear to be "rushed out the door" where the list items are simply bound directly to the datalist and no rendering of the HTML has been performed, The FTB control (Link popup) errors when attempting to create a link etc are just a few of the modules that behave unexpectedly.

Normally, this would not be such a problem as I would go through the source of various modules that I require and fix the broken bits. However as per the following list I have been unable to find the source code on the DNN site for many of the problematic modules.

If this release is a beta then I can accept this as a preview version, however I do not see any clear reference to say this is the case. (Edited by Author: The following link clearly states Release Canadate http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Default.aspx?tabid=958, from looking around the forums, I get the feel that like me, many have missed this point of an RC release and would suggest that anyone looking at an upgrade performs a full install first to review the release, then certainly test the upgrade). this post maybe a little redundant now however hopefully it encourages people that this is a preview.

Having also searched the various module project areas, I also was unable to find any reference to the modules versions in this release or that they are early versions or incomplete works.( refer to above edited comment)

It would be useful to have some synchronisation between install packages of DNN and the various Modules, so that if we do take up the new version then we can resolve any issues that currently reside in the delivered DLL's

Craig,

the modules shall be soon available for download from the projects' download pages. Please take care of the release notes of each modules, cause some already use new features of DNN 3.3/4.3, e.g. Documents, Links and UserDefinedTable.
