I created a page called community and added the social group module.  I then chose the recommended"Auto Installer" option.  I created several social groups.  When I choose a group from the community page it shows me that group just fine on its own child page.  I can edit the permissions for the module for a single group on its own child page and update it just fine.

But editing the permissions for a single social group saves those changes to all social groups.  If I now navigate to the child page for each social group the permissions are changed to be the same as the social group I edited.  When I view the permissions for the social groups module on the community page they are unchanged for the community page that lists all the social group.  When I change permissions there they do not propagated down to the individual social group modules on each child page.

Why does editing the permissions for a single social group propagate to all social group modules within the same community?

Also even if signed in with admin permissions I do not have the option to edit all social groups. The module settings for the group show the little lock icon indicating that administrators can edit the module but if the administrator did not create the group they are not allowed to edit it (only leave it).

 If only the group's creator can edit the group and it is unknown who that was, how can it be determined who can edit that group?

Also when I update a module very often I am returned to what appears to be an empty copy of my community page which shows a blank module with the title Social Groups.  If I refresh the page I am shown my list of groups like normal.  Is this a bug?

Finally is anybody else seeing these same issues?

Thanks,

 Jeff

this happens because the default permissions create child pages of the social groups page that are shared by all social groups - the only difference is that the social group id is in the URL so the child pages know to only display that social group.

As to the other items I dont have enough experience to comment - if you feel they are bugs please log them to support.dotnetnuke.com (i will say that social groups was the final piece of code we checked in and it still needs some work to finalise a few items we had to push out to make the 6.2.0 date and release quality requirements)

Jeff;

I believe many of your questions would be answered in Will's remarks regarding Social Groups on this thread:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

The last issue, blank page which requires refresh for data to be displayed, is a bug.

Please log it @ http://support.dotnetnuke.com with clear reproducible steps

@ Cathal

There are some other limitations and questions we have found before we can really integrate the social features into our LMS.  Is there an estimated release date for 6.2.1?

Thanks,
Chris
