if you turn on caching, results from the database will be cached in memory, i.e. numerous sql requests will be avoided. This is not related to module output caching.
if you add a module, the portal cache needs to be invalidated and all data gets reread from the database. Either invalidation does not work (proof: restart application in Host > Host Settings at the bottom) or you don't get delivered latest version of the page.

Hmmm, not sure about this guys.  I'm running DNN 6.2.0.  Logged in as host or admin.  Server is pretty much idleing, but without caching enabled, runs pretty slow when changing pages.  With caching enabled site works great.

but like I said.  I add a module, the site refreshes and there is no module..  I add it again, still no module..  Eventually the page updates and I have 2 modules now.  So my changes are taking effect, but I'm viewing a cahced page for some period of time.

I tell you, THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

EVERY TIME I make a change I have to clear the cache like 5 TIMES!

I have to use caching of the site is a dog, but seriously, stuff that should take me 20 minutes takes an hour because of this caching issue.

What can I do guys ? This is DNN 6.2.0, is that the problem ???

this is not a typical problem with DNN websites, there must be some extra caching in your installation.
