Cliff, I'm also an Active Social customer and have invested in this product. At the moment I'm missing a couple of features also. That's what's keeping me from updating. What I meant is I'm okay with waiting for a reasonable amount of time for update scripts. Will has told the community he would release these so I'm willing to wait for those.

I'm sorry for the members who have invested in integration with the Active Social product and now need to do some redesign. We're facing this too. I'm still positive however, because the DNN Social system will be much more attractive for module developers than Active Social. We can expect much more integration in modules than before., just because it comes with DNN.

Let's hope for the best and help each other with the missing pieces.

 This is exactly why I'm really excited to see what happens in the near future.

Active social was a great addition to our site, but I was always wanting more from the "Events" and even "Gallery" portions.   Now I'm hopefully that 3rd party developers will be able to easily add the features that I've been waiting for for so long.

I completely agree that moving social functionality to the core improves the product dramatically.  It also allows vendors to leverage more/better/integrated features for their modules. Ideally, "core social integration" becomes a marketing checkbox on module vendors in the store. Don't have the checkbox? I don't want your module.  I give DNN Corp a lot of credit for having the vision to acquire Active Social's IP and bring Will onboard.

That said, my rant in this thread is more about the lack of communication about what to expect and when. Yes, many of us are "stuck" until the migration tool is released...but even if it's going to be October....I just need to know so I can schedule projects and staff accordingly.

Not communicating bad news (or any news) is not a strategy. It only frustrates new users and alienates loyal fans.

@Steven,

I like your idea about the checkbox on products with the social capabilities. It seems like that Bizmodules can be put on that list soon as Pengtsen has indicated to integrate with the social capabilities of DNN here: http://www.bizmodules.net/Support/tabid/55/view/topic/postid/26084/forumid/5/tpage/1/Default.aspx

I just hope that many more can be put on that list.

When you indicated October for the migration tool I assume that you mean this year, right ;) ?

Regards,
Marc

Can anyone tell me if the latest version of the journal allows us to format what gets posted into the journal and how that works? Or a link to the correct documentation? The only vendor that I know who had this capability of formatting the Body that got saved into the database was digNuke. He had a tag set for the Contest module that allowed me to create a different format for each journal type, contest submission, voting, winning a contest, etc. That was an awesome capability but I am not sure if / how it has been implemented into the current 6.2.1 journal.
