Hello Sacha,

I did not reply, because I was thinking about it !

Your slides are just... MARVELOUS !!! THANKS SO MUCH.

Your post need to be sticked or to be posted on a FAQ or wiki page !! That's great, it's easy to understand, I love it, we have both how it works, but also where it store the data in the database.

I still have few questions:
1/ when you uncheck detached, what's happening in the DB please ?
2/ What is the difference between "Ready for Translate" and "Copy module" ?
3/ You say that if you add modules to a non default language, the link is not established. What does it mean ? If I create a module in a non default language, then I need to create one in the default language, but there is no link, correct ? In such case, what is the difference with your solution of creating a module in default language, and then click ready for translate ?
4/ Do you have an explanation of what I said here  (I don't understand how you link a module to a page - in the database - )?
5/ And finally, do you have the explanation for this question ?

Thanks a lot,
DV FX

1/ when you uncheck detached, what's happening in the DB please ?

> The second language Module recode is deleted and the second language TabModule record is linked to the default language Module Record

2/ What is the difference between "Ready for Translate" and "Copy module" ?
> its the +/- same
> Ready for translate, is a DNN functionality : its copy all default language modules to all other languages
> Copy module  is one by one

3/ You say that if you add modules to a non default language, the link is not established. What does it mean ?
> The modules not linked, some dnn Content localization feature cant work
If I create a module in a non default language, then I need to create one in the default language, but there is no link, correct ? yes
In such case, what is the difference with your solution of creating a module in default language, and then click ready for translate ? The link is made and all dnn content localization features works ok

4/ Do you have an explanation of what I said here  (I don't understand how you link a module to a page - in the database - )?
> difficult to explarn, it try to make a other slide for it
5/ And finally, do you have the explanation for this question ?
Not possible, you have to chose in the begin : localised page.

Hello Sacha,

Just to let you know that your explanations are very useful for me, I refer to it on a frequent basis, thanks again !!!
If you have the explanations regarding:

> I don't understand how you link a module to a page - in the database - ?
> > difficult to explain, I will try to make a other slide for it

I am VERY very interested.
Thanks,

Hello,

it's a very useful discusson, thank you for the infos!

I'm trying to figure out how to import the page names into DNN DB from external translation tool.

Could you please give me an idea concerning following:

as soon as I have content localization enabled and localized pages for different languages defined, I see that the page names are in DNN_Tab table, field TabName. If I edit the page name in page settings, this field will be changed accordingly. This is clear so far.

But we also have the reference from DNN_Tab to DNN_ContentItems via ContentItemID, and in the DNN_ContentItems table in the field Content the page name is repeated, but only the initial name given when the page was created. It looks like, the record in DNN_ContentItems was inserted once, but after that only DNN_Tab is updated. Could you please give me an idea about if and how the relation between DNN_Tab and DNN_ContentItems is used?

Sincerely
