When DNN will be upgraded to 4.0 framework ?

I just finished installing DNN 06.02.01. - the site was working fine.

I just installed YAF-DNN-Module 1.9.6.1 on top of that and now whenever I run the DNN website I get this error:

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.
Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.
Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' could not be loaded.

So it seems like YAF is using 4.0 assemblies / DLLs and DNN is still using the old 3.5 assemblies and DLLs, so what's the work around here ?

Hi I am running a website with the .net 4.0 framework, a dnn 6.20 site we've upgraded to 6.2.1 and have YAF installed and had no issues at all with it.

Did you check your application pool is running the .net 4.0 framework in IIS?

Sometimes by default the server may use 3.51 framework, and some developers prefer this, but I can tell you 100% certain that DNN 6.2.1 does run on .net 4.0 framework and YAF works as expected.

Before increasing your portal to .Net 4 you should test if everything works - there are some third-party modules that don't work (Apollo Page Localization for instance).

Best wishes

I am not running this on server so I don't think there should be application pool issue because right now I am running the DNN website on local machine using Visual Studio 2010.

I am getting this error:

Error 10 Assembly 'YAF.Utils, Version=1.9.6.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=8b49dc47f4701f66' uses 'System.Core, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' which has a higher version than referenced assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'

Ok problem solved - in Visual Studio, I right clicked on DNN solution

In the properties / build, I changed the framework from 3.5 to 4.0 and now it is running fine.

thanks
