Is there any plan on integrating with the social capabilities of DNN 62x?

What I would love to see is

  1. Notifications to the journal
  2. Individual events
  3. Groups events

I'm pretty sure that I've missed something but this seems like a good start for me.

Marc,

Yep we plan to do some integration in the next release, not sure of the timing for that though, work is just too busy...

Certainly we would plan to have:-

  • Journal listing of new events
  • Journal listing of enrolments - need to consider how to handle this if we do unauthenticated enrolments since DNN Social only supports DNN users
  • Notification of moderation events

Other items would depend pretty much on how we handle the 'From' userid, because the messaging system as stated above only supports DNN users as from and to addressees. The module enables you to enter a 'from' email address which may not be a DNN user, if the email address isn't for a valid DNN user, then you can't send messages/notifications by DNN social.

I'd like to understand more about what you mean by Individual and Group events. The module is complex enough, so I hope the ideas don't add significantly to that.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

I like the integration ideas you mentioned for the journal a lot. I hope work is not holding you away from this for too long.

For group events I was thinking about the ability to invite members of a group for an event. The visibility of such an event would be depending on the kind of group (private / public). When you're not member of a group a group event should not be visible/accessible. That kind of stuff.

For individual members I assume it would be much more about notifications to the journal.

For both group/individuals it would be great to have the ability to show my/our events from the profile/group pages.

Just some thoughts.

Marc

I would love to see group events as well.

The functionality I'm looking for is pretty simple.

1) Have a calendar of events on each group page.
2) Have all group events show up in a master calendar of events.

This is something that I always wanted to see in Active Social events and it never happened. If this functionality was integrated into the DNN Event module, I would be ecstatic.

Any type of journal integration would be good as well.

Ik think you can have group principle already by placing a calendar for each  group on their page and use the master/sub calendar principle to have 1 event calendar that summarizes the events of all groups.

Journal integration is planned for the next release, but as you know, we are all volunteers and release dates are difficult to predict due  to limited available free time.
