So you are saying that the Event Module is already aware of the GroupID parameter in the URL?

I realize that you and others are strictly volunteers. Thank you for your efforts.

Hi Jason,

No the module isn't aware of the groupid parameter in the URL. I've got to say I'm not really sure how the groups work so not sure how much of a challenge it would be to support group events. I'm looking to do some work on the module in the next couple of weeks on social integration, so if I can get some guidance I can look at it.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

That's great news. The integration that I'm looking for is pretty simple (at least on the surface). I would be more than happy to give input and/or beta test any functionality related to the module.

My site has been using Active Social for a while so my users have embraced many of the social features. The Active Social event functionality was something that I always wanted to see evolve, but it never happened.

Thanks!

Jason

I suspect you are missing the point of my request. I need to understand how groups work. I've never used them, so don't know how they work. Any pointers?

I'm probably not the best guy to give an overview of how groups work, but in my mind, they are pretty simple.

A group is simply a collection of users on the site. People can leave/join public groups or be invited to private groups. Each group has a little bit of information associated with it, Image, Description, etc.

Groups can also have a journal associated with them. Anything that happens in the context of the group shows up in the group journal.

I would envision group events happening in a similar manner. Someone in the group creates a new event and it's added to the group event calendar. The group calendar shows any events associated with that group and likewise the group journal shows any activity in the group calendar.

Does that help at all?

Unfortunately, I don't know any modules other than Active Forums that actually integrate with Groups yet.
