The plot thickens... I tried installing 6.2.3 with SQL Express under IIS7 and I got the exact same error:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 20
Number: -1
Message:

 I verified I am running in ASP.NET 4.0 Integrated mode.

So I Googled a bit on this too. I'm not using SQLExpress for anything else on either of these servers but I was at one point. I'm thinking my configuration is off. So, I brought up SQL Server Configuration Manager and when I went to view SQL Server Services, I just see a "Remote Procedure Call Failed" error.

So, I think it's safe to say the problem isn't with DNN and has to do with SQL Server Configuration.

Installing SQL Server 2008 SP3 resolved the problem shown in configuration manager. Then I was able to see SQLExpress was "stopped". When I ran it and then tried the install locally, I was able to get past the initial error.

Trying to run the setup through Visual Studio, I did then run into another error message: "15% ERROR occured - AppPool in IIS must run under Integrated Mode" but I don't consider that an error as it's actually great error handling.

It does pose an issue in that if DNN7 requires integrated mode and ASP.NET Development Server doesn't support Integrated Mode, it seems like that's going to make things difficult for lots of folks...

FYI integrated mode is a new prerequisite with 7.0 - see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

IIS Express, which installs with Visual Studio 2012, does support Integrated Mode. So, you just need to set your project to use IIS Express. To do this, open the site in Visual Studio, right click on the Solution in Solution Explorer and select "Use IIS Express" from the menu.

Why is everyone repeating the "Integrated mode is a prerequisite"?  Am I the only one who's site comepltely bombs in Integration mode but functions in Classic?  I am on Windows server 2008, Sql Server 2008, IIS 7 (not 7.5) and when I run in integrated mode the site throws a 404.0 error stting that <sitename>\Account\Login cannot be found.  Been trying to figure out for days why this is happening - An Accounts directory doesn't exist - never did!

The issue with running in Classic mode is that my auto-login via Active Directory fails to work.  Mike Horton says it's becsaue I am running in Classic mode - but I can't switch to Integrated for the above stated reason.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
