Also, while it is not certain, it has been suggested that internally this has only been seen on machines that have had pre-release versions of MVC4 and or WebAPI installed on them, and that the true underlying cause is a missing method exception because one of the pre-release dlls is being used instead of the release version that is in the /bin folder.

If you can try this on a machine that has never had pre-release installed, or clean up all pre-release copies on the current machine (copies tend to end up in many surpriseing places on a dev machine, be thorough) it may also help in solving the issue.

I've never had a pre-release of those installed on either of the machines where I saw the issue. But, I'm no longer seeing the issue with the new build provided in this thread. I just banged on it harder with the new build to see if I could replicate the problem Mark saw but everything worked properly despite trying a variety of scenarios.

OK, I just set up a fresh install at work along with Fiddler but it's working fine. Go figure.

I'm not suprised since my PC at work does not match the one I use at home. My work work PC does not have MVC 4 installed (v3) but I'll have to check my PC at home. Either way I'll install Fiddler at home and record what's happening so I can send some additional information to you guys in case it helps.

I just tested this at home and my laptop does have MVC4 installed on it. So it's possible that's causing this issue like someone implied.

Let me know if anyone still wants me to run a test in Fiddler.

Hi,

I confirm that a re-install with version 1351 allowed editing... I don't have the MCV4 install on my server...

regards,
Duncan.
