Hello All,

I am getting the dreaded machinekey validation error message from IIS.  I don't have two web.config files and the site is setup in a new website in IIS and is in the root of the site.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or how to solve this problem, but any help would be wonderful!

 Thanks,

Jim P.

If you upgrade a instance you have to use the upgradepackage, where no new web.config file is added.  If you try a new install and have an error running the install wizard, you have to delete the database and recreate it.  Then try to start from scratch.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm actually just trying to do a clean install and can't even get to the installation wizard. I've redownloaded and unpacked the install package and am still getting the same error.

You done wrong IIS configuration.

you have to create a new site on IIS or create a virual Directory on the Default site of the IIS that is bind to your DNN path.

Without using one of both you can't install any webapplication.

Applicationpool user Needs full Access to the dnn path and permissions have to inherit to all subfolders and files.

Detailes instructions you find on http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/T... or http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/V... !

Ok, i'm not being clear. I have created a new website in IIS. I have copied the DNN install package to the new website folder. When I try to navigate to that new website, I get the above error. I don't have multiple web.config files and I shouldn't have to configure a virtual directory b/c it's in a new website. Is there something else I'm missing?
