Works for me too.  I'd still love to know why I get an additional username/password prompt when I click edit page using the new controlbar. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm surprise you haven't had a more comprehensive answer on this as quite a few people experienced this in beta... You can try 2 things:
1.) Delete all cookies related to you site. This fixed the problem for me.
2.) In your web.config, if the <modules> section says <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="false"> change it to <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true">
OR
if it just says <modules>, change it to <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true">

Another symptom:

With the ribbon bar active, I tried moving a module from one pane to another using the little move icon on the top right corner. The module appeared to move, but I also got the Authentication popup. Of course, no user/pass combo seems to work. and If i refresh the page, the module is back in it's original position.
