I too am experiencing this problem as per http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F....
I have checked out the PortalAliases as suggtested and there is just the one that (in this local development site) we use.
I then decided to upgrade to version 7.00.02 but this has not solved the problem, but has introduced another problem.

The new problem is that my top menu bar is not visible (once logged in) unless I select an item (such as Admin Host) from the Host menu. I am using the Dark Knight skin.

Any suggestions about these two issues gratefully received.
