I had a good experience with 3Essentials and at one point had a couple of dozen sites with them.

I have hosted DNN sites with many companies over the last 5 years: ihostasp.net, discountasp.net, GoDaddy, 1 and 1, 3 Essentials, and Applied Innovations. Last year I set up an account with PowerDNN where I now have both shared and Dedicated server plans. It didn't take very long before I moved every client site I have to PowerDNN. From my experience, there is everyone else and then there is PowerDNN. I can not say enough about the amount and quality of support from this company. I initially thought they were the most expensive host out there for a small web development company like me but if you consider the cost of my time, they turn out to be the most economical. Time I used to spend trying to figure out an issue over a site upgrade, or module not working I now spend developing sites for new clients.

All i know is that i had all kind of problems with 3essentials, moved the DNN sites to Applied Innovations, and now (after 8 months), same websites, i didn't have a single problem.

I have some sites hosted with PowerDNN. They have customer support that works; they answer phone and email; and the people either know the answers or they have access to people who do. If you want your hand held they are GREAT.

If you are self-sufficient I'm not sure that you can beat Amazon EC2. I have 24x7 use of a Windows Server 2012 instance for about USD70/year.

No use if you plan to compete with Facebook levels of traffic, but it's easily enough to run a few undemanding sites and you can instantly pour in more resource if you hit a traffic spike.

In some ways it's better because you manage it yourself. In some ways it's worse, because you manage it yourself.

I posted here - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F... on how I set it up.

Best wishes,
