I need a genius... hope its you!

I had a DNN 7.02 (I think) version installed and running.  I applied the latest upgrade package I thought DNN 7.05 upgrade overwritting via FTP the file structure, but I used the INSTALL package and not the UPGRADE package.

Now the site doesnt really work, al ttle bit, and a little bit NOT!

How can I clean this up... of course there is no backup of the system, no backup of the database.  I did it early in the morning before my coffee and I am lost for words.  I was wondering if I can just copy the latest upgrade package via FTP overwritting the files and run the upgrade without problems or is this just going to make it worse?

Thanks,  Bill

The solution is not very genius: restore the backup (I hope you made one before starting the overwrite...)

Sorry... did not read the last paragraph...
Best wishes
Michael

The CONFIG files in the root of the website are likely the worst of your problems. Do you have a copy of the FILES from before the upgrade?

If not, you're pretty much hosed.

Hey Chris,

Nope... no backup.  It was a total Brain meltdown that morning.... ans since, I have just been totally at a loss as to what to do.  Its nice to hear that you,  The main man of training say... I am TOASTED!  Then I know not to spin my wheels anymore and will have to take the rough road to recover and that is rebuild the site from scratch.  Bummer.

I wish you would look at another post I made as I trust everything you say.... like I said... you are the man :-)

This post would have made the rebuild easier, could have done it on a development version and ported the rebuild using standard techniques but that has been removed in DNN 7 or changed in a way I cant find any information about, not EVEN in your training videos :-(

Here is a link to that posting here on the forum....

Template Export / Import

if you could save me on that... then the rebuild isnt an impossible task and you have saved my life !

Thanks,  Bill
