Guys, there is no way to solve definitively this issue. Did you remebber that filemanger finally worked? Well, now I was using one of my modules that is based on telerik. Suddenly, it stopped to work. I got the same javascript error messages I reported in one of my previous posts. So I tried to open Filemanager and it didn't work again!

I decided to compare again my localhost test environment with server environment. After some changes (ie module caching: in server it was memory, in localhost it was file) both filemanager and my module restarted to work again...

A question to Willem Bonekamp and Mark Buelsing (the other person that have my same issue): which is your hosting provider? i'm starting to think that this problem is related to some strange configuration in iis...

I agree it looks like the problem is a combination of different settings/factors:

  • Enable/disable popups;
  • jQuery version/settings;
  • Module Caching provider;
  • Telerik version;
  • IIS Version/settings.

Unfortunately I haven't  figured out which setting combination does fix the problem and let the Filemanager function on a stable way.

We host several DNN instances on the same Server/IIS Configuration and some instances have the Filemanager problem and others haven't so I doubt if the IIS configuration is the problem.

@eclipse79 Which strange setting/configuration in IIS is the problem?

Thanks for searching with us!!!

You guys have a better understanding of this than I do. I would not have considered all those variables. Let us all know when you figure out the magic mix that makes it work. Mine is not working yet, but my attention has been elsewhere for a while.

Some months ago I struggled with a web application that worked on my laptop but didn't work on production server. There was a table in a panel that was updated with ajax.

The issue was caused by a security setting in web server that was not set on laptop and blocked all updates of that panel when table became too big. In that case I had to increment the value of this set on web.config:
<appSettings>
<add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="<new value>" />
 </appSettings>

 I don't know if it is the case, but as I told, the use of this setting was necessary only on production server. This could explain the fact that only some users are reportin this issue...

Thank you to all who posted here on this issue.  I have upgraded a DNN site from 6.1.2 --> 6.2.8 -->7.1.1 during the upgrade all scripts ran as a success and there were no errors in the event logs.  After the upgrade we had to switch to Ribbionbar to be able to edit content - but once we made that change everything appeared to be working fine. Then we discovered that when we try to go to any folder we get the error message "An error occurred while loading folder content".  Based on the information in the post I have done the following:

1. ensured that pop-ups are enabled
2. Credits are on
3. We are not using the hosted jquery
4. I switched the skin on the file manager page to Gravity - a DNN skin - and the problem remains

5. There is no error in the events log
6. File manager is not a module in my list so I was unable to add the old module back to the page as some had described.

Has anyone - DotNetNuke Company? - have an answer to this issue? This is clearly is not a one-off issue given the number of people who are reporting the same issue.

Judy
