I don't know -I found a report about cached browser files causing the issue (in this case it was due to a misconfigured proxy server) so please try pressing CTRL+F5 to force a fresh copy of scripts to be loaded to see if that resolves. Beyond that I have no idea, but an upgrade is probably worth a try in case it is some corrupted file in the asp.net temporary internet files (you can usually test this by changing the debug value i.e. change it to true and then back to false and do an F5). Its probably worth checking file permissions as well in case that's it i.e. check that App_Data\ClientDependency has modify permissions (as otherwise the map file could be created but then not deleted/updated)

In case anyone else runs into this issue. It looks like the solve is to change anonymous authentication to use the application pool identity.

Ended on stumbling on to this post regarding a different but event which I was also seeing logged from time to time...

Thanks for the input.

I checked the permissions for the App_Data\ClientDependency folder and it is set to MODIFY but there are over 900 files that have piled up in there since we did the update at the beginning of December, which would indicate they are not being deleted after the site no longer needs them.
