After successfully uprading an host to Dnn 7.2.1 I notice a strange behaviour with the checkboxes to assign permissions in page or module settings: clicking else on the "view" or on the "edit" checkbox does automatically check both, and it is not possible to correct this - ie it is not possible only to assign "view" permissions!

Am I the only one with this problem?

Regards,

al.

AFAIR code was added that when edit was checked view is automatically checked -this was to make it clearer what access a user really had i.e. before when they had edit access that meant they automatically had view access, so we've just updated the UI to show this. However if you check view then it should not effect edit - I've just tried and when I do this it works, however if I click it again (to deny) then the edit updates (also to deny) and if I click again (to clear) the edit does not update. This is a bug, I will log it and ensure it get's fixed

It should be possible to click View and not get Edit, but there was an intentional decision in 7.2.1 to automatically set permissions that are required in order to ge something else.

For example Edit without View is meaningless so if I check Edit I need View so it gets set to make it clear. Deny View means that I am denied anything else as I cannot do anyting unless I can View the item.

We tried very hard to get this right - but 7.2.1 was focused on fixing some long standing permissions issues.

Cathal, Charles,

thanks for helping: I still cannot properly set permissions, see the following animated gif. Is there a way to fix before next release is available?

I am facing the same problem with all Portals from one of 3 dnn installations which i have updated to 7.2.1. The one DNN installation with that problem has one Portal which has Translation enabled. Could this be related?
