Tony,

I  think you are confusing skin objects with modules. You cannot put a skinobject in a page, you can only put it in a skin (or a container). You can however use the module variant of the house menu (if that is still available, i heared house menu will no longer be commercially available), and put it in a page. Depending on the implementation of iportable, you an have default settings added to the module.....

All in all.. i still am not sure what you are trying to do.. can't you just use a different skin?

cheers,

Erik

Hi Erik,

Although I admit I am a newbie, I do know the differences between skin objects, containers, skins and modules.

What I ultimatly want to do is to let my client select a page template or skin and the Housemenu is already setup with the appropriate settings. I don't want the client to have to start editing module Settings or to have to remember to copy modules from one page to another.

So I have created a skin which contains the HouseMenu skin object, which worked great until I noticed that the Housemenu was not working properly in IE, a CSS layering problem.

However if I used the Housemenu Module in a container the CSS layering problem went away, hence my original question about defining a container in the skin.

So the Page Template option seems to provide me with what I need, so perhaps I can abandon the Skin idea, except.......I need to be able to define the Housemenu module settings.

Clear as mud.

Tony

sometimes mud can be very clear..

Page templates are the way to go, i have no idea about the IPortable implementation of Housemenu though. You would have to test that. Does the module action menu have Import / Export defined? If so, if you export it, and import it on a different page with a different house menu module.. does the imported module have the same settings as the original one? If so that is a big plus.. if not then this is the end. If export is available, export a page as portal template, and see where the module settings are saved. You could try adding the module settings to the page template.. you might get it to work this way.

Sorry for being so fuzzy about this.. page template are a fresh new feature.. and to be honest.. i dont know much about it ;)

cheers,

Erik
