HI,

I have a custom module that I built on another website and that website no longer works for whatever reason and I can't re-install it. I created a new website and I need to link up my custom module to this new website so that I can debug the code and Package the module to deploy to production. I have tried creating a new module through Host > Extensions > Create a new Module but that will create a new module and I already have a module created so this option doesn't work. I basically need to be able to Package my module and I need to do this through a website. Does anyone know how to do this with an existing module?

Thanks

You would need to manually copy and package up your module files from the old site.
You may find that in the old module folder there is a .dnn install file that you can use.

Alternatively - if it is a simple module - with just one view registered - you might just as easily copy the files onto the new site - and manually register the file as a new module in the host->extensions module.

 Hi Wes,

I'm kinda new at DNN...how can I re-package my old module by using the .dnn install file?

Thanks

a dnn install package is really just a .zip file containing all the elements that compose your module - and a special .dnn file which is basically an xml file that contains a manifest of the module what the files in the zip all do and where they should be put.

If the .dnn file exists in your existing /desktopmodules/mymodule/ path - you could try zipping it up with all the files it lists in that manifest.

OK...but I guess if you create a zip file of the contents, I wouldn't be compiling the files and all of the source code would be included, correct?
