Hello.
I'm a designer and a beginner on working using DNN, I'm facing some problems on skinning.
I've created a skin base, and would like to make some changes in the CSS that I've uploaded, but when I replace the CSS file with the new (which contains the changes), it's ignored by the skin manager on the Admin.

I tried to create a new skin, using the changed files. The new skin went ok. So, I deleted the old skin, and renamed the new skin to the original name, and the new skin turned to use the old style (even existing the new CSS file in the folder).

Is there some way to update my CSS file in the skin folder in order to make effect on the skin manager (when I parse the skin pack)?

odd - are you using a file called skin.css or are you including a link to your own css file?

I'm using a file called skin.css.
I paste the updated CSS file in the local server skin folder (replacing the old one), then I parse the skin. When I inspect the page on browser, changes in CSS are not being rendered (the page is still using the old CSS file).

Well, as a beginner, I have more problems. So I wouldn't like to create other threads, but I would be very thankful if someone could help me.

The base site that I'm working on is using the Gravity theme, I've disabled the sample pages pre-existing on the base site, and created a new page that I set as home page (that uses my new skin I've created). The old home page (that uses Gravity theme) has a login link that opens a modal with the fields to login. My new home page doesn't have a login link, but the fields appear automatically within the ContentPane. How can I control this behavior? My home page doesn't have to have a login link (or fields to make login), but I need to have a page where users can make login to the Admin area.

Other problem is about using Menu. I've followed this guide: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-..., but when I insert a menu (skin object) in my html file (and then parse the skin), this doesn't work. Instead of having a list of links, my menu rendered on browser shows a list of span elements (not clickable). I tried to use the tag as I've seen on Gravity theme, but I have the same issue.

I really would be thankful if someone could me show a direction to solve my problems on creating and managing sites with DNN, as I feel totally lost.
Sorry for my long list of problems...

the issue is going to be that the client resource management (the code that loads css/js and allows for combining/minifiation )has cached the skin - you can force a cache recycle via tools->recycle application domain. Alternatively go to host->host settings->advanced settings and expand the client resource management section - press "increment version" to force a refresh of any cached scripts.

Note: this seems like an error to me, and that parsing a skin should automatically force an increment of version - can you please log this to support.dnnsoftware.com so we can fix it in the next release
