Surprisingly, still no resolution on this. In fact, I did a fresh new (default website) install of DNN on the dev server and am having the same problem. No sub-pages, no host or admin pages... all 404's. Home page is the only page that works.

The only difference between the machines is that my localhost is IIS 7.5.7 on Windows 7 Pro, and the dev server is IIS 7.0.6 on Windows Server 2008.

Has anyone heard of this happening before?

Please tell us:
What url do you use for the home page that works?
What url do you get for one of the 404's?

Best wishes,

If this was a new install of DNN 7.1.0 or later or one upgraded from an earlier version to 7.1.0 or later with the urlFormat switched over to "advanced" rather than "humanfriendly", the problem may be due to a missing Microsoft patch on the new server/hosting provider. Without the patch, the extensionless urls used by a default installation of DNN 7.1.0 or later or an upgraded site that has been configured to use extensionless urls will not function properly and will throw HTTP 404 page not found errors.

William,

I tried changing the url format to humanfriendly in web.config yesterday. Now it will show the admin and subpages, but not without extensions, and some pages when I try to edit them, it bounces me back to the homepage.

I'm waiting on IT to finish upgrades/backups on the servers before I can apply the hotfix. Hopefully that will be it. Joe Craig mentioned this over on DNN Creative's forum, but it didn't sink in until I tried changing the url format and read your post. Thanks!

Richard,

My working homepage is something like deveserver/DNN, and the sub-pages are devserver/DNN/support, contact, etc.

The hotfix solved the problem. Thanks William!

Also, I am now using Evotiva's DNN Backup module to backup/clone/migrate my DNN installation. It handles the whole process very nicely and the developer, Horacio, has been very helpful and responsive with email support. I'd recommend the module to anyone that needs to backup or move their DNN installs between servers.
