There seems to be some problem with my 404 "nice" pages. I receive the classi asp.net 404 error instead of the custom 404 page.

I checked the web.config and the friendly url provider is correctly set to "advanced".

Any hint on where to check? Thanks in advance

It's very odd in that section I don't have a 404 dropdown to assign... I have just splash, home, login, register, profile, search results.
I renamed the 404 page in italian maybe I messed up things. Now I reverted back to original name but nothing changed.
I'm doing a fresh install now on my local machine to c heck things.

I checked a clean install and there is no 404 dropdown in it as well BUT it's working the same....
I will install my third party modules one by one to see if this mess up things... I'm afraid I messed with renames of the 404 page... that would be a problem to revert back.
One funny thing I noticed is that if you enter for example www.site.com/bcajshdjkas or www.site.com/deffffault.aspx it works but if you enter a different extension like www.site.com/def.axxss the IIS 404 fires. Maybe this scenario should be handled as well (hint)
