For some reason the only emails being sent out from my DNN site are when a user is added to a new security role.  When someone registers for the first time the email is never sent out...

Where can I change this?

Quick bump here. I am having the same issue. I receive the SMTP test email, users can get the password reminder email, and role notification emails, but there is no initial registration email that goes to the user. As an administrator, I receive email notification of a new account, but the new user does not. This is with 4.0.3

Same problem here... the only e-mail notification that goes out is to the "superuser" (host) account.  Portal admin's are not getting any notification.  I am using version 4.3.2  but was also having the issue with 4.0.2.

As i had said (last line) in my post, this is 4.0.3

I have made the following discovery:  Registration emails ARE sent to any person in my domain (@mydomain.com). Anyone outside that domain is ignored. This appears to be because of a setting in the Admin->Authentication Tab. The form there looks like this:

I believe that i had set this in the past (misunderstanding its purpose). However, whenever I attempt to clear it now and press the update button, i get the following:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

  <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
   <system.web>
       <compilation debug="true"/>
   </system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

Is there anywhere this setting can be cleared manually? I have found a location in the database that seems to have these values (ModuleSettings table) but there the Setting Named "EmailDomain" has no SettingValue... Where does this value come from? Is it possible that it is interfering with my registration emails?

Thanks,

ee
