I am having similar issues on a fresh install of 04.03.02 on shared hosting at WebSecureStores. I get the SMTP test and newsletters sent to an entered address. But no registration, password reminder, or status change emails. My Log viewer is showing Password Sent Success entries and no Faliure entries.

I checked the Admin >Authentication page and see that Email Domain is not set to an exact match of my domain. (The help says to leave Blank) But I can not edit it because of an error:
The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled.

Now I can't find a solution to this web.config error either. Any suggestions?

Skip my previous message. I found the General Exception errors in the logs. Email authentication was failing. The web host (Web Secure Stores) had set the SMTP server as the IP #. When I changed it to mail.mydomain.com that corrected the issue. Also found that the bogus email address (again set by the host) in the Admin user profile kept some messages from being delivered.

Email is working now. AD Authentication did not affect the problem as it is not running on the server.
