I have a custom tables that I want to query.  I want to insert the data returned from the query into a pdf form.  Is that possible?  If yes, which products do I use and are there instructions?

Hi
If you want to export data to pdf, you can make use of the report viewer control in your custom module.

Thanks,

Greg,

I am using the PDFSharp/MigraDoc libraries for that purpose (http://pdfsharp.com/PDFsharp/). Works great - go through the examples there before - they are very helpful.

Best wishes

The OnyakTech Forms module has the ability to generate a PDF from the information entered into a Form.  To have the form display information for an existing record in your table you just need to set the database options for the form (where you set the table, primary key and optionally a connection string if your table is in a different database than your DNN database) and pass in the primary key value for the record you want to display (there are several ways you can do this).

There are two ways it can generate the PDF for you.

  1. It can create the PDF adhoc. This is the quickest way to create PDF documents with Forms in DNN but it does not contain styling.
  2. You can upload a PDF Template that the OnyakTech Forms module will use to create the PDF by merging the information entered into your form with your PDF Template.  You can map the fields on your form with the fields in your PDF.

With OnyakTech Forms, you can have the PDF documents...

  1. Downloaded to the user
  2. Saved to any location on your server or network
  3. Attached to an email

Would this solution work in a shared hosting site?
