I recently looked at the updated DNN roadmap dated October 16th, 2014 which says migration to MVC and RAZOR which means Content will follow a separate distribution because Content can drop 300-400 stored procedures and related features  so we can add self-service BI because Excel 2010 and up comes with self-service BI and rebrand to Business DNN.

I have also seen Microsoft Asp.net team member on Stackoverflow say that RAZOR was a bloated way to render html and on the Asp.net forums WebMatrix users says they cannot use Visual Web Developer so DNN is moving to unskilled Asp.net users and MVC and there is no Asp.net MVC content system because SharePoint is Webform.  When Asp.net blogs migrated only 179 blogs to Orchard we lost more than ten years of images associated to Scott Guthrie's blog content so it remains work in progress and DNN webform Content can do better for 70-80 percent of Asp.net users.

It is a shame Microsoft will allow UI to be sold by its partners and platform and let those selling the UI and WordPress running MVC sycophants destroy Webform.

And btw Telerik was sold this morning to Data Company Progress software the parent of Data Direct.

Tony, the question is whether we may require 4.5.1 or 4.5.2 now for DNN - as users on shared hosting usually don't have control over the .net version installed on the server and would be unable to upgrade.

I saw your reply now. The host should be able to install 4.5.2 easily. Some hosts upgrade servers gradually. If one really needs 4.5.2, they can ask the host to move the site to one of those upgraded servers.

thanks Tony - FYI the decision was made to go with 4.5.2 (the roadmap has been updated accordingly - http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community/... )
