Another *current full time* module vendor here said his module provides the same functionality as the Ventrian article module. For some reason, some people keep sticking with modules that are old, not supported anymore and where the vendor was absent for a very long time and every time there's a whiff that they might be back, some are jumping from joy. I have seen this in these forums, blogs and tweets for a while now and I had to make a comment based of my observations. I feel some are holding to a straw and just hoping.
Here are some of my ideas:
- Buy a current module that has the features you want or one where the module developer promises they will add them.
- Someone buys the Ventrian modules business and IP and continue selling them and offering support and development. Not sure if there's enough demand to support this business model.
- Ventrian developer hires a DNN Module developer to run the business and continue development and support. Some arrangement of profit sharing is established.
- Venrtian developer has no time for the modules and Ventrian goes open source and free and anyone use and modify them to their liking. Just like what Engage Software did with their commercial modules. And anyone can add new features or support to a module for a fee, if the new software license permits this.
