Sure! It's simply this:

Dim counter As Integer = CType(Me._readSetting("Counter"), Integer)
counter = counter + 1
Dim objModules As New Entities.Modules.ModuleController
objModules.DeleteModuleSetting(ModuleId, "Counter")
objModules.UpdateModuleSetting(ModuleId, "Counter", counter)


 

Without DeleteModuleSetting it update the setting only the first time!

I don't have an example of ModuleSettings to compare against. So first a question. Is ModuleSettings what you want? Might TabModuleSettings be more appropriate? It's significant if the module is ever placed on more than one page in the site, or even more than once on the same page.

ModuleSettings = settings that will be same for every instance of the module, on every page, throughout the site.
TabModuleSettings = settings that are different for each instance of the module


The code I have (I didn't write this) has...

objModules.UpdateTabModuleSetting(TabModuleId, "template", txtTemplate.Text)
' refresh cache
SynchronizeModule()

It appears that SynchronizeModule is Obsoleted in favour of a more modern technique.

A quick glance in the DNN source code suggests that on read the setting is cached for performance. When you make an update it writes to the database but it is *up to you* to get the cache refreshed.

I'd bet that you need a call to SynchronizeModule or it's more modern replacement after your update.
