This is the first time I have tried to install DNN and I am having a little trouble.

I have limited experience installing things like this.

I have created a MySQL db but my host will only allow my database name to be

mydomain_DotNetNuke

So I have used this in my this connection string

    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="mysql5.myhost.com"
      connectionString="Server=(local);Database=mydomian_DotNetNuke;uid=myuserid;pwd=mypassword;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

This results in nothing

Can I use a custom MySQL database name or does I have to be DotNetNuke?

Of course you can use any database name you want, it just cannot be a MySql database ....

(unless of course you have bought / created a MySql dataprovider)
