                   Hello all,

Just ran into the following error while installing DNN.

Database Connection Error ERROR:Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 18456
Message: Sql login failed

to login, I used my Azure sql database server name (input it as saidin.database.windows.net), then the database name, user name, password, and so on, but login still fails. I left the following blank; object qualifier and run database as owner ... what am I missing here? I'd also ensured that all pertinent IP addresses are allowed through the firewall. My database happens to be called "Cambridgeport90" after my web site name, so do  have to include that in the server name? So "saidin.cambridgeport90.windows.net?" Thanks for any input here ... this is brand new to me.

With a bit more work, I've determined that the issue may not have been with the database; I managed to figure out the login error. It turns out that I typed my login name wrong on the server, which connected just fine, but now I'm getting the following error after 18% of the install: "The Given Path's Format is not supported" and I cannot tell whether this is a database or a permissions error (the IIS AppPool\ApppoolName> account has full control on the web site directory. There are                    no logs seemingly available.

You don't need an object qualifier.
Please check, whether you are able to access the database using the same credentials.

I think it worked (accidentally created the database login with an extra W) for I was able to get 18% of the way through installation but then I discovered the "The Given Path's format  is not supported" error message. My permissions are set with iis apppool\apppoolname> identity set to full control on the folder where my web site files are stored (I intend to reduce this after troubleshooting). this was during a remote installation, so maybe I'll mess with the error message settings in web.config first. Any suggestions? I was looking for a definitive guide to DNN folder permissions, but couldn't find one.

please check the windows account specified in Advanced Settings of your IIS Application pool for ASP.Net Identity, this user needs full file system permissions for the IIS website, you are going to install DNN in.
