did you unblock downloaded DNN upgrade packages Prior to unzipping the files contained?

Accepted Answer 
In the end, this issue was caused by a set of custom triggers setup on the database by one of our DBA's. Once the triggers were removed, the update was successful.

I've just had the same problem and the source was that the [Version] table in DNN had an incorrect version as the current installed version.
When I fixed this I then got a problem on the script 7.0.4 (I was trying to migrate first to 7.4.2).
This error is fixed on later versions, so I could do a direct upgrade to DNN 9.1.1 and all ok.
