I have upgraded a test instance from 8.0.4 to 9.1.1 with no logged issues and all portals seem to be working fine.

UNTIL I used the HTML editor to edit content and tried to add a link. I used the Browse Server button intending to locate an existing file for the link and the site went busy - not just the portal I was on but all other portals stopped responding. The w3wp.exe process started to consume a constant 40% of CPU.

The log file contains no errors and the application event log contains no obvious clues.  I had to manually kill the w3wp process to recover.

I can replicate this issue at will and would appreciate any tips on what else I can do to diagnose the underlying cause.

TIA

Steve

Steve,

which HTML provider are you using?

Happy DNNing!

Hi Michael

My web.config states the default provider is CKHtmlEditorProvider

Further news: Despite the 'browse server' functionality having worked in the pasted on 8.0.4, I did see the same behaviour on my production instance yesterday. I also upgraded my 9.1.1 test instance to 9.3.2 - and still the same behaviour occurs

Thanks and regards

Steve

Steve,

It seems you are using the HTML Editor provider by Ingo Herbote (https://github.com/w8tcha/dnnckeditor) - is that correct?

Maybe installing a newer version could be helpful...

Happy DNNing!

Hi Michael

You are probably right, but sadly the reason for that is lost in the mists of time! Could you recommend a good, up-to-date HTML Editor Provider that I should try?

Thanks and regards

Steve
