I would suggest checking out the core media module.  The project team that worked on this really kicked butt and change the image module to a module that can handle just about any media (images, video, mp3, flash, etc).

I would recommend using flash based flv files. Google Video and YouTube both use this method due to many advantages. The chief advantages are, they work on all platforms with no configuration (other than having flash installed) and provide the most seemless exprerience for users. They can be  easily embedded into HTML using the standard <embed> tags. For a project I'm working on now, we'll be using my Articles module to list the available videos and put the <embed> tag in the Text/HTML detail part...

I'll put up a sample and details on my blog in a bit.
