Ok, I'm now confused regarding upgrading from 3.x to 4.x source... the installation guide is somewhat cryptic in its explanation on how to move portal content.
"The situation is a little trickier if you want to upgrade to the Source version of DotNetNuke v4.0. It is therefore recommended, that rather than overwriting in some way your old “site”, that you follow the instructions in the previous chapter to create a new DotNetNuke v4.x site, and move any custom content you have on your old site, such as Modules, Skins and Portal content, as well as your web.config file, to the new site.
Then in IIS re-point the Virtual Directory to the Website folder of the DottNuke v4.x site. This is the safest and simplest way to move your development from v3.x to v4.x, and once you have completed this you are ready to configure your web.config file."
Aside from creating a DTS script to copy over all SQL Server content, is there a simple way (Stored Proc, etc) that can acomplish this? Also, have the tables change significantly between versions (thus complicating the ETL mappings)?
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find an adequate answer on this forum.
It has been a while since I've programmed in DNN so I feel vastly behind the curve and would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks,
Garfus
