Hi,

I have some questions about banners in DNN3:

1. How is it possible to put a flash banner? Do I need to code the <object> tag myself?

2. How can I get stats of a flash banner?

3. Can I put banners on an external asp page? (old asp3 not .net)

4. Last thing, I have programmed a special technic to use flash banners, without the need of puting the url inside the source of the flash. It can get the url from the DB. I tought about developing a new banners module, but can't find where to start. Could someone give me a hint about it? I mean: where is the source file of the banners module located and the vendors edit page.

regards,
Eden

1 - You can embed flash into html by dropping the code in if you want, or you can use the inventua flash player module - http://www.inventua.com which also has the IE fix to activate control in it.

2 - This is a bit tricky in DNN since Flash isn't setup for banner management, like gifs, jpgs, etc which, if people spend a bit of time looking at the banners is quite impressive.  And it does great tracking.  You will probably need a third party ad tracker for flash tracking with DNN unless something new has been created that I've yet to discover.

3 - That's a good idea to try - I have seen this done, but that would require iframes to manage I think.

4 - I can't help you with that but last year we did some work with some flash buttons and some code reading from sql - so it was an attempt of dynamic flash buttons but it was too messy to give as an off the shelf solution.    The source of the Vendors I think would be found under root/admin/Vendors folder. I think it might help to hook up with some people who have a knowledge of flash and DNN - I know a couple. But that's about all I can help you with.

Would be cool to see some funky flash banners in a dnn site that is an integrated solution.

Well,

I have the knowledge of asp.net and flash. The solution I made came from a different idea of how to make flash work with an external url. It works 100%!

And it doesn't use any inner-calls to sql from inside the swf.

Could you give those of us hoping to do something simple with this a brief introduction to your solution?! a step by step or even a sample would be most handy, but even some terms to start looking at would probably help. THANKS for doing this. It will save others of us hours and hours!

Well

It's still on beta. But you can mail me, and I'll send you the files to check.

For now, it works only for DNN3.3.3
