Hi,

I am having similar issues with a fresh 4.3.4 installation and it seems it has something to do with the portal aliases ...

Try the following - force the usage of a certain portal - so

www.yoururl.com/yourvirtualdirectory/default.aspx?PortalID=0

This works fine for me and the portal loads ... I can login etc ... Once you click the logoff link it goes back into redirecting looping ...

I am a bit lost though on the reason why this is happening and whether it is a new bug with this release ???

I had similar issues upgrading 4.3.4 to 4.3.5, the method I used to do this upgrade is the same method I used here previously.

  • The Error:
    • Same thing as others have had with IE in endless loop (my dsl modem light kept flashing steadily, but nothing would happen.
    • Firefox gave the message:
      • "Redirection limit for this URL exceeded.  Unable to load the requested page.  This may be caused by cookies that are blocked."
  • How I fixed it:
    • Copied my old web.config back over my new one. (nothing seem fixed).
    • Copied my old Default.aspx & Default.vb back over the new one.  It started working then.
So I wish I had words of wisdom as to why all this happened to me - but I am clueless.  I am now running 4.3.5.  I looked at the log, it had a few warnings and errors, I am not sure if any pertains to the situation.

But Hey!, it started working again, so I thought I would post this just in case there's a chance it could help somebody else!

Thx for sharing your solution. I finally found a solution for my upgrade from 3.2.2 to 3.3.5. However it is a little bit strange it is working for me.

- A fresh install of http://localhost/DNN335 with a new database.

- Then I run a new DotNetNuke_3.3.5_Install http://localhost/DotNetNuke335 against my current DNN 3.2.2 Database (in which I added the portalalias localhost/DotNetNuke335). Again the update succeeded, but again the site failed to load. Firefox gave the message "Redirection limit for this URL exceeded.  Unable to load the requested page.  This may be caused by cookies that are blocked"."

- Now I changed the connectionstring in the web.config http://localhost/DNN335 to the updated DNN 3.2.2 Database. The site is running again.

- Finally I copied the files http://localhost/DNN335 over my old installation (DNN322).
