The provider uses the URL control that comes with DNN. I think core team has solved that problem with URL in the new release of DNN (3.3.4 and 4.3.4)

I have Upgraded to 4.3.4 thinking it might have soled the problem but, it is still the same. where as they changed it for FTB Editor. but that has other issue, that removed the / in URL when you select file.

I have tested again by using several DNN 3.3.4 and 4.3.4 and the URL control generates the friendly URL ok.

Are you sure your site upgraded correctly?
