I also noticed, my Server in SQL Server Enterprise Manager reads "(local)(Windows NT)", but in SQL Server Service Manager, reads "ALEX" (name of my computer). Does this make any problem?

Ok, Almost half of my time during the past 8 days trying to install DotNetNuke has been spent on uninstalling SQL Server, .Net Framework and DotNetNuke and installing different versions of them. Now I have IIS5.1 Framework2.0, SQL Server2000 and DotNetNuke4.0.2 installed. My web.config also reads

<connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005-->
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;Trusted_Connection=True"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules-->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=dnnuser;pwd=password;"/>

Now I get

Server Application Error

The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance

I am just not sure which server it is talking about. SQL Server or IIS Server, so that I could get to work on that.

Any idea?

Mark

It's an IIS error.

You could also try following Michael Washington's setup document : http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNuke/tabid/195/Default.aspx

Couldn't figure out what was wrong with my IIS at the end as everything looked ok in there, so I uninstalled everything again and could manage to install SQL Express this time, IIS and run the Installer hopefully. But got this:

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Once again, I don't know it is talking about IIS server or SQLExpress, or maybe even the web.config.

Any idea?

Mark
