I am creating a web site with, I hope, many portals. I picked DNN because it had user-frendly URLs

However, my cild portals have urls sometimes appear as http://www.agingsafely.com/dnn/Default.aspx?alias=www.agingsafely.com/dnn/sampleafh rather than http://www.agingsafely.com/dnn/sampleafh/AFHHome/tabid/59/Default.aspx.

Why is this and what can I do about it?

BTW are they DNN sites with 100+ child portals? I'd liike to look at one.

Do you mean having something that looks as cool as this? http://www.skinsforsale.com/xflex/home.aspx  Or this? http://www.ninasfreeskins.com/xd4fuseme/home.aspx  - when you first get to site - it display that a the alias - but once you click a page it should be ok.   I know there are things you can modify in the host/settings friendly urls but not sure how it affects child portals.

I achieve this affect with my URLs through the http://www.inventua.com hREF exchanger.  If you do not want this alias to occur you need to setup the sites as subdomains but because you have installed dotnetnuke in a dnn folder and your IIS setting is setup this way - you will probably always have the dnn prefix in there.

You can make dnn have friendly urls.
