Yep, I would have to agree that is a bug in the gallery.  Note:  Most people probably run the gallery showing the images as a popup and not as another page in the browser.  If you do it that way it works ok.

To download images as users, you need to set the permissions on the list of users that can do downloads.  You can pick the everyone option if you want to give everyone the ability to download things. (under module configuration)

As for your erros, you should look at your system and see if you have something setup wrong.  As it is erroring on things that shouldn't be erroring on.  You might try makig sure all of the VS cache is cleared, and restart VS.

PS.  I'm assuming you are doing this all on my patched 4.x version of the gallery?  As the 3.x beta version doesn't support anything mentioned above.

Hi James,

i am having a problem to upload images. I am using DNN 4.5.0 and your gallery module 4.2.1. The ADD-FILE dialog let me select a picture and put it in the PENDING FILES section, after the UPLOAD command the picture vanishes. This happens in 9 out of 10 times. Sometimes the image is filed in the gallery?! I tried it with DNN host-, DNN administrator- und DNN user rights. I seems not to make a difference. I gave the "IUSR_xxx user" and the "internet user" on the file server full access to PORTAL\GALLERY directory but nothing happend. Do you have a last idea?

Thanks in advance

Kai

In my version of the code there are error messages displayed if we find any errors.  Are you sure that the upload screen isn't saying anything? It should be in red letters (can't remember exactly where on the page).  Also, check the DNN event log.  Any errors that are generated are also posted there.

I get this error trying out the gally on localhost (Windows Vista):

Description: The request filtering module is configured to deny a request that contains a double escape sequence.

Error Code: 0x00000000

Notification: BeginRequest

Module: RequestFilteringModule

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/dotnetnuke/Modules/Gallery/tabid/61/ctl/AlbumEdit/mid/392/path/+/currentstrip/1/action/addfile/Default.aspx

Physical Path: C:\DotNetNuke\Website\Modules\Gallery\tabid\61\ctl\AlbumEdit\mid\392\path\+\currentstrip\1\action\addfile\Default.aspx

Logon User: Not yet determined

Logon Method: Not yet determined

Handler: PageHandlerFactory-ISAPI-2.0

Most likely causes:

  • The request contained a double escape sequence and request filtering is configured on the Web server to deny double escape sequences.

What you can try:

  • Verify the configuration/system.webServer/security/requestFiltering@allowDoubleEscaping setting in the applicationhost.config or web.confg file.

More Information...

Server Version Information: Internet Information Services 7.0.

This is a security feature. Do not change this feature unless the scope of the change is fully understood. You should take a network trace before changing this value to confirm that the request is not malicious. If double escape sequences are allowed by the server, modify the configuration/system.webServer/security/requestFiltering@allowDoubleEscaping setting. This could be caused by a malformed URL sent to the server by a malicious user.
