Hi,

The problem seems to be a process time-out and it seems to be related to the patch level of either IIS or .Net Framework or both. I was also installing on a OS install when I got the error. When I ran Windows Update against the server there were many patches that Windows needed to apply in order to bring it up to date. These include several patches that affect the .NET Framework. Once all of the patches were applied and I rebooted the server I was able to run the 4.3.6 installation package successfully.

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/80435/scope/posts/Default.aspx

someone has the same problem,so I deleted some biger modules, then I install dnn4 successfuly, but when i browse my dnn site, I find some new error, but I think it's because my computer is too slow to run this program.

SOLVED!!

I had the same problem.  Unzip the installation, set everything up as normal, but before browsing your website, delete the largest .zip directories in /install/modules.

Answer courtesy of:

this looks like a timeout issue, that can happen with slow servers. I recommend to remove the largest modules after unpacking the install package and before hitting the site. Large modules are:

  • blog
  • forum
  • store
  • repository

Install those modules separately afterwards

I was getting the exact same error after several other tries (rebooting IIS server, etc. with no success).

This finally worked:

+  From IIS, view the properties of the web folder / virtual directory in question (ex: "DotNetNuke", if that's what you named your folder / virtual directory)

+  Click the "ASP.NET" tab

+  Change the "ASP.NET version:" drop-down to point to the new version (i.e., 2.0.50727)
