I can't speak for MajSu, but can give you info from my install.

My sequence:

  • I'm running VS 2005 Pro without issues.  VS2005 IDE is setup to use a default location for projects that is not in the standard location below "My Documents\Visual Studio 2005" directory for projects, instead using a common location that all logins have access to. I noticed that the Starter Kit installed the components there. Don't know if this is the cause or not.
  • Previously installed DNN 4.3.6 Starter Kit and am having no issues
  • Unpacked the DotNetNuke_4.3.7_StarterKit.zip
  • Right clicked on DotNetNuke.vscontent and selected Open
  • Left all checkboxes checked and clicked on Next, then Finish
  • Received same message MajSu describes for DotNetNuke Compiled Module.
  • The other four items (DotNetNuke Web Application, DNN Dynamic Module for VB, DNN Dynamic Module for C#, and DNN Skin) all installed successfully.

Sorry was away for a day... I didn't uncheck  compiled version, but all the other modules installed OK.

Ditto with chip.

Once I went toVS2005, got past the compiled module problem but during the BUILD I kept running into problems during different module builds, one time it was media, then gallery, then something else.

I finally gave up on the Starter package, downloaded the Install and carefully followed directions. I have it working now, but couldn't through the starter pack.
